Only a man of pure soul can convert a simple canvas into a beautiful masterpiece. Maqbool Fida Hussain was an excellent painter and also a worthy film maker but unfortunately left us on 9 June 2011. He was called 'The Picasso of India'. He has been awarded the highest awards in India , namely,Padma Shri(1955), Padma Bhusan(1973) and Padma Vibhusan(1991).This self trained artist had a uniqueness about being 'barefoot' while at his work. He was very famous for his paintings of horses. His famous film works include Through the Eyes of a Painter, Gaja Gamini, and Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities. His autobiography is being made into a movie tentatively titled The Making of the Painter. His golden era was 1990–2011 when Husain went on to become the highest paid painter in India. M F Hussain was a prestigious artist of India and will always remain in our hearts.
