In 2011 our city Delhi completed 100 years as the capital of India . Students of St Mark's School Meera Bagh participated in a Flexi poster competition to mark the occasion. Here, you can see them in action.

Celebrations 2011- An Art Exhibition
As India celebrated its 62nd Republic Day, an art exhibition Celebrations 2011 was organized by young artists and eminent artists in Kumar Gallery, one of Delhi’s oldest galleries. It showcased the work of around 22 artists which included some of the most eminent artists and younger names. The paintings showed patriotism for the country.

National Film Festival at Siri Fort
The Government of India organized the National Film Festival 2011 in Delhi from 16 June- 17 July under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. There were around 42 films which won the Rajat Kamal or Swarna Kamal. The main motive of this festival was to bring the best of Indian Cinema and also appreciate and encourage it.

Indian International Annual Trade Fair
31st IITF was organized from 14 November- 27 November in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It promoted trade across boundaries and is one of the most popular annual trade fair. Lot of participation was noticed from both domestic and foreign traders. They came as consumers as well as viewers too.

Delhi Book Fair
It was held from 27 August- 4 September in Pragati Maidan. About 3 lakh visitors were seen here which include students, teachers and book lovers from India and abroad. They speak volumes of the success of the event.

Surajkund Craft Mela
This ‘mela’ (fair) was held in Surajkund, Delhi Faridabad Border. It is famous for its unique handicrafts and handlooms. Skilled artisans showcased their traditional crafts from their respective states. It also offered a variety of cultural programs and different cuisines.

Summer Theatre Festival
It was an event organized by National School of Drama at Kamani Auditorium from 3 June- 12 June. Several schools staged their plays. It was a spectacular event.                

In April2011,  A Children’s Theatre Festival was organized by Ateliers Theatre Group in which the best six plays produced, by schools in the capital were showcased for public viewing in Kamani auditorium. The proud parents of the participants, teachers and principals of the schools were the special guests of this mega event. St Mark’s Meera Bagh staged “Fanny’s First Play” George Bernard Shaw’s first play in this Grand Finale.

Mango Festival
It was celebrated in July in Dilli Haat, in West Delhi. There were about 500 varieties of mangoes. There were mangoes as small as a litchi and as big as a papaya. Mango lovers came in large numbers and enjoyed the festival. Fresh mangoes and processed mango foods such as pickles, chutney, juice, etc. were on sale.

Delhi Metro

Green Line (Line 5) is the fifth line of the Delhi Metro network and the first line on standard gauge, as opposed to previous broad gauge lines. It runs between Inderlok and Mundka with a branch line connecting the line's Ashok Park Main station with Kirti Nagar station. The completely elevated line, built as part of the Phase-II of Delhi Metro runs along the busy NH 10 route in West Delhi. The line consists of 17 stations including an interchange station covering a total length of 18.46 km. The line was opened in two stages, with the 15.1 km Inderlok - Mundka section opening on 3 April, 2010 and the 3.5 km Kirti Nagar - Ashok Park Main branch line on 27 August, 2011.
