Haifa Hero Historic Memorial Ceremony
Haifa Military Cemetery - Sep 22, 2010 by Alex
"Every year on September 23, the Indian Army commemorates Haifa Day, when two Indian cavalry brigades fighting under British General Edmund Allenby during WWI helped liberate Haifa, Israel, from the Turkish-German forces in 1918. The courageous uphill assault by the JODHPUR LANCERS, which took by surprise the Turkish and German artillery and machine gun emplacements on top of Mt. Carmel, is also commemorated by the Haifa Monument. - - Due to a research and initiative of The Haifa History Socie..."
Message from Alex:
Dear Marsha and Lakshmi,
It is my honor and privilege to share my photos from this historic event with you. It show the long term roots of our countries, India and Israel beyond the humane story they bring. Everyone in the ceremony was excited. There is an unwritten obligation to organize such a ceremony every year and make it a tradition.
You may use the photos for any educational goal, share it with your colleagues and students and post it on GlobalDreamers's site.
Shalom Alex Ringer
