In this fast paced computerized world, people have become very selfish and materialistic .Today man is killing his fellow beings in the name of religion, money, etc. In order to achieve name, fame and money, the man is resorting to evil means and losing his inner strength and character.

The need of the hour is to educate the masses to be good human beings. Man should not be selfish but he should serve the mankind. There is not a single religion which does not preach the idea of service to humanity. The idea that God loves those who love their fellow men is rightly said. Mother Teresa was a living example of a lady who had dedicated her life to the service of poor, the dying and destitute. For her noble deeds, she is praised, respected and remembered throughout the world.    To be a good citizen, the man should be ready to sacrifice his life to safeguard his country from terrorists and from enemies. He should keep the interest of others before his own selfish interest and motives.   --Rashi Arora, St. Mark's School

編集後記
私たち日本のチームは21人で活動しています。
クラスは42人いてみんな女の子ですが、仲良しです。
今回GVCに参加するにあたって、情報収集、資料まとめ、文書まとめ
に多くの時間をかけました。
テーマは「students save someone」でしたが、
日本はボランティア精神がまだあまり根付いていませんが、
今回の取り組みで、これからボランティア、「誰かを助ける」
ということを心がけていきたいと思います

What does service before self mean?
I think this phase of words means to me to put yourself in check and be respectful. My other idea that I think it means to me is to put yourself in a service to help protect others or to protect our country. To put yourself in service is to work in a place that gives service to help others or the country and to help our country you can serve in the military. Niualama
I think it means to put something that is important to you before yourself. For example, some people put their jobs before themselves maybe because they don’t want to lose their job so they will do everything and anything just to keep it. And maybe people sacrifice something just so they can be able to succeed in something they want/love. Jessica, John Muir School
Our team has 21 students. And 42 students are in homeroom class. We are very friendly. This time we joined GVC, so we searched so many things, wrote in Japanese, and then translated into English. So it was really hard for us, so we spent much time. The theme is Students role in  “Service Before Self”.  Japanese young people think that volunteering is troublesome in these days
We think the number of people who don’t volunteer are increasing. But our team made a decision to volunteer and to help people forever from today!
Thanks to be a part of a good project! We are really glad!
