History

Badminton was originally created in India. In the 1820s, English soldiers came back from India and exchanged the ''Poona'' (a ball made from leather) hitting it back and forth with rackets. This was the start of the game badminton. In 1873, the English soldiers told England about the game that they created. From there, they played the game with chanpagne stoppers (instead of Poona) and tennis rackets. They first showed the game at ''Badminton Residence," so the game was named ''Badminton'' after the name of the place they introduced it.
